On The Issues
In addressing the most important challenges of Miami Lakes, I'm committed to crucial issues for our community's well-being. These commitments not only focus on key matters but also include a pledge to reform the way town leaders govern. I aim to enhance transparency, ensuring the public is well-informed about the decisions that shape our town's future and instill trust in the decisions the town makes. The below are only a few of the most important issues facing our town and my main priorities if given the honor to represent the Town of Miami Lakes. Priorities and Objectives:
Traffic Management:
Recognizing that traffic is a significant quality of life issue, I understand that real solutions require regional cooperation. I will work with County and State partners to advocate for comprehensive traffic solutions. Emphasizing traffic safety, I'll work with our manager and police commander to curb speeding and reckless driving in all areas of our Town, including residential streets.
Responsible Taxation:
Committed to maintaining low tax rates, I aim to enhance residents' quality of life by directing revenue toward crucial services. Prioritizing police and resident services, especially services for our children and seniors, local infrastructure, and town maintenance ensures a balance between low taxes and improved services residents expect from the Town of Miami Lakes.
Mine Blasting:
Having advocated for reforms on the Blasting Advisory Board for over 3-years, I will make it a priority to collaborate with State legislators, County and Federal officials, and neighboring municipalities to address the damaging impact of mine blasting on homes and infrastructure. We need urgent relief from the disturbances affecting our community and I will advocate and support all possible resolutions.
Preserving Quality of Life:
Focusing on the small yet vital aspects that make our town exceptional, I will address the importance in maintaining trees, landscaping, sidewalks, and parks. Additionally, I propose exploring all avenues that will provide improved and cost effective services for the town from our employees and contractors.
Unparalleled Transparency:
I pledge to have one of, if not the most accessible and transparent public office in Florida. Through open communication and active engagement, I will ensure residents are informed and involved in the decision-making processes that shape the future of our community. I will advocate for an earlier budgeting process, ensuring residents have ample time for input throughout the year and propose more frequent regular council meetings to avoid rushed decisions and burdensome agendas. I will actively communicate matters and decisions from town hall, working towards making it a well-attended and engaging environment.
Responsible Development:
While acknowledging that development will continue, I am committed to preserving the unique character of the Town of Miami Lakes. We aspire to avoid overdevelopment and maintain our distinct identity as a town. Any new developments will be required to undergo thorough traffic studies, ensuring responsible growth that aligns with the maturity and values of our community. The focus is on growing in a way that reflects the town we envision for future generations to thrive in and cherish.
